Screeching

Voice 1:
(Car noise and music)
I go out of my house and hear angry yelling.
There's a bunch of neighbors all screaming at each other,
and a guy I don't recognize in a car calling everyone names.

Then he takes off, he screeches to a stop down the street,
puts his car in reverse, just backin' up, fishtailing
and nearly hitting the group on the street. They jump
out of the way, and run to get steel fence posts stacked
at a vacant lot. I don't know what's going to happen, and
I don't know what to do, so I just run up to the guy
in the car while they're getting those fence posts and say,
"What are you doin'? Do you live around here?
You better get out of here."

He looks at me and suddenly just tears away again, while
the people are coming with their steel posts.

I don't know if that's peacemaking but after everyone calmed
down and as I walked away, I heard someone
in the crowd say, "Hey, thanks."

Voice 2:
This message of peace from the Mennonite churches.
